Routing Information Protocol

SEMINAR ON ROUTING INFORMATION PROTOCOL : It is distance vector routing protocol. It is open standard and uses Bellman Ford algorithm . Rip is class full routing protocol . Updates are periodically broadcasted using ip address 255.255.255.255 and complete routing table is sent as update . Routing table contains source ip address and destination ip address. Each update can contain a maximum of routes and administrative distance is 120 . In rip maximum hope count is 15 . Mainly there are two versions like RIP version-1, RIP version-2 and RIPng . In rip.RIP version 1 is class full routing and the periodic routing updates do not carry subnet information.RIP version-2 is Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) and the periodic routing updates carry subnet information.RIPng is the extension of RIPv2 and supports ipv6.
